We’re excited to introduce our expert foundry services, offering cast metal solutions with a focus on precision and quality. Specialising in high-performance products such as marine propellers, our solid foundry capabilities ensure that each component meets the highest industry standards for durability and reliability.

Foundry

Overview: Foundry services involve the casting of metal components by pouring molten metal into custom-made moulds. This process is ideal for producing complex shapes, one-off parts, heritage replacements, or items no longer available from OEMs.

How we deliver: Kernohan Engineering offers small-scale foundry services for non-ferrous metals such as bronze and aluminium. The foundry is often used to produce custom marine and mechanical components that require high strength, corrosion resistance, or a tailored design. It also supports restoration and reproduction of legacy parts.

We specialise in:

  • Casting of propellers, rudder components, bushings, and custom fittings

  • Sand casting and mould development from drawings or samples

  • One-off and low-volume production

  • Post-cast machining and finishing in-house

  • Reverse engineering from damaged or obsolete parts

Value to your business:

  • Quick replacement of rare or unavailable parts

  • Customisation to meet unique or legacy specifications

  • Integrated service from casting to final machining

  • Reduced reliance on offshore sourcing or long lead times

Industries we serve: Marine, heritage restoration, forestry, and general engineering — especially clients requiring unique, durable, or hard-to-find cast components.

We are pleased to announce that Kernohan Engineering Ltd have acquired the assets of Diverse Engineering and the original Nalder and Biddle Foundry with effect from 1 April 2025.

This acquisition will allow Kernohan to expand its marine division business offering, including a wide range of propellers, keels and other marine, automotive and cast metal components, and at the same time continue to provide the products and services previously supplied by Diverse Engineering to its loyal customer base.
